I'm so happy you think so! This puts a huge smile on my face. Thank you very much.

Wow, nonstop drama and action and angst.. yep, right up my alley! I like how all your stories show the lead characters pulling together and supporting each other. Poor Lestrade! You put him through the wringer, poor guy. Glad that John was able to pull him through, and that something good (them working together) will come of it, after all. Liked Sherlock lurking in the shadows. And John being so BAMF when the occasion called for it. So much to love.... thank you for a wonderful birthday gift! p.s. I found intriguing Lestrade's comment that the investigation into Sherlock's cases would be biased... had not really thought about that before. p.p.s. Just re-read it and wanted to add that I really liked John's perception that the lurker wanted to know Lestrade's fate. Lovely.

Oh, my dear friend, I'm so tickled this worked for you, even though this wasn't my "Plan A" story. If Lestrade's symptoms with the perforated lung seemed in any way analogous to a chronic asthma attack, I'm sure that's complete coincidental. *blinks innnocently* LOL! I'm especially tickled that Sherlock's watching from the shadows and John's general BAMFness worked for you.

As for the bias, I figured that's one way it could easily go. No doubt Lestrade's superiors have chafed at this "consulting" for years (thus the fact he's a DI, not DCI), and whatever manipulation Moriarty put into place might've stuck (including the fact Donovan and Anderson might still be on duty while Lestrade's suspended). Add that to the fact a man (Sherlock) has apparently committed suicide based on their suspicions, so now there's a "saving face" element involved to prejudice them, whether they realize it or not. It's only one possible outcome of many, I admit, but I could imagine everyone Sherlock's hacked off over the years coming out of the woodwork, and Lestrade effectively kept out of the way, unable to offer a defense.

Oh, and it pleases me so very, very much that you liked John's perceptiveness in realizing whoever was in the alley might be waiting to learn about Lestrade's condition. Gah, how awesome is John? Let us count the ways... LOL!

Thanks for your lovely comments. And thanks especially for being born! Happy birthday. :D

Why oh why do I love reading about poor Lestrade getting thumped all over the shop?

Probably because you and others write it so well! This especially broke my heart:
"...Is there anyone I should ring for you?"

Awwww! Because he's brave and stoic and no-nonsense in his suffering? Because it gives other characters an opportunity to appreciate him and show that appreciation? Because anything with Lestrade is by definition better than something without Lestrade? Okay, that's just me, LOL, but I'm a Lestrade angst junkie. Which is why your stories blow me away, BTW.

I'm sooo pleased you liked the bit about Lestrade having no one to phone. I think John's going to do his best to show him there are people who care very much. *fingers crossed*

Thanks a million and then some for reading/commenting. I really appreciate it!!!

Beautiful. Simply beautiful.

Oh, I'm thrilled you think so! Thank you very much for this. I truly appreciate it.

They hurt my Lestrade! They must suffer!

I must be some kind of sicko because the poor bastard is unable to breathe and all I can think is how hot it is that he's whispering into John's ear and that even strangers know he belongs to Sherlock and how hot it is that John can save lives that way and Lestrade laughs like a Norse warrior.
Feb. 15th, 2012 10:28 pm (UTC)
They must suffer, indeed. I don't want to think what John will do to them when he finds them. No wait, I lie. I do like to think about that. LOL!

Your comments sent me into hysterics in a very good way. You had me at "Lestrade laughs like a Norse warrior." I need an icon with that phrase on it. I'm thrilled that you found this to be hot. If you're a sicko, then I'm a double-decker sicko. So there.

Thank you so much. You're awesome!

Excellent. I love the subtlety and deft touch.

What a lovely thing to say! I'm thrilled. Thank you so much for this.

Brilliant. I had to leave this a day before before I felt ready to deal with the potential angst onslaught, but this was worth reading and like the rather positive ending. Neither John or Lestrade are as alone as they thought.

I'm so happy you liked it! I'm especially pleased you felt the ending struck the right note. Thank you very much for this.

Oh, I appreciate this so much! I'm really thrilled to hear that you liked the writing style and descriptions. It's great to know you found it to be moving, too. I do love the idea of Lestrade being unable to let this go, and of John joining forces with him. And of course Sherlock and his network keeping watch over them, too!

Thanks so much for reading and for your kind words. They're most appreciated.

OH, what a great hurt/comfort fic! Lestrade!whump is becoming a new kink of mine, and you did it wonderfully. Thank you!

Feb. 15th, 2012 10:47 pm (UTC)
I'm so happy you liked it! Lestrade!whump is sort of where I live (LOL), so I'm tickled to hear that this worked for you. I really appreciate your kindness and encouragement! Thanks again.

Poor Lestrade! I look forward to your developing the Moran plot in future fics. Moriarty was an unpredictable genius wacko, but Moran is a thinker and a strategist.
Feb. 16th, 2012 12:48 am (UTC)
Ah, thank you so much! I can't wait to see what, if anything, the next series does with Moran. I agree with you: he's most definitely one to watch out for. Yikes! I appreciate your reading this so much. Thank you!
Feb. 14th, 2012 02:19 pm (UTC)
I liked the real to life touches in this. Of course Lestrade's career would be up a creek, of course they'd review his cases. I like that he kept searching anyway.
Feb. 16th, 2012 12:49 am (UTC)
Thank you so much for these kind words! I'm so glad Lestrade's career woes and trouble at the Yard, and his determination to search for real answers, struck the right note. I really appreciate it.

Oh, you. This made me tear up on the subway!

Awww! *hugs you and offers virtual tissues* Sorry about that! But I'm glad to hear you found this to be moving. Thank you so much for reading. *hugs you again*

Thank you very much for the pleasure I've got from reading this.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind words.
Feb. 15th, 2012 01:52 pm (UTC)
Oh god. For a moment I thought you'd kill Lestrade.
At the "Don't be ridiculous" I KNEW it was Sherlock. ;-)

This is a wonderful start, you know!
I would LOVE to see JOhn and Greg go after Moran together!
Feb. 16th, 2012 12:55 am (UTC)
I'm glad the tension worked - and that Sherlock's disguise didn't. ;P

Thank you so much for this! I'm intrigued about the Moran angle. I haven't written off the idea of taking this farther, and I really appreciate your encouragement.

Many thanks for your kind words!
